The Itinerant Museum of Art calls women to provide naked bodies
The aim is to exhibit on their naked skin the works of the legendary artist Frida Kahlo, as a tribute to her.
ItiMa, The Itinerant Museum of Art, calls on women from around the world to lend their naked bodies to art to exhibit the works of Frida Kahlo,
as a Living Art tribute to the inspiring life of the Mexican painter (Kahlo was born July 6th, 1907 – died on July 13 1954).
The aim is to exhibit, on female bodies, the works of Frida in the streets of major cities in all continents, this project is organized
by Fernando Morales-de la Cruz, founder of ItiMa, The Itinerant Museum of Art, in an attempt to democratize access to art and culture.
All women, who want to carry the works of Frida on their bare skin and want to be part of this unique artistic affair with Frida -who would
be very excited about this initiative-, also talented artists and people interested in supporting this artistic initiative to bring art to
people of all social and cultural backgrounds should contact ItiMa.
The Homage a Frida Kahlo will last until July 2013. It is part of The Living Art Collection created by Morales de la
Cruz which seeks to pay tribute to the birth (July 6, 1907)
and death (July 13, 1954) of Frida with reproductions of her works strolling through the cities on the bodies of women, as it has already been
the case in Bonn and Cologne, Germany.
When asked about exposing works on naked female bodies, the founder of ITiMa considered that the human bodies of all persons are the most
outstanding work of art ever created, and recalled that 500 years ago Michelangelo faced opposition from fellow artists and also from the
City Council of Florence to put his naked statue of David in the streets of Florence, Italy.
Morales-de la Cruz reiterated his invitation to all interested around the world to join his democratic art project, for which all needed
is to email ItiMa Frida.int@ItiMa.org and contact via Facebook ItiMa - Living Art Collection .
This will definitely be a great adventure in the name of Frida Kahlo. ItiMa is also inviting artists to participate in this tribute. All talented artists interested in participating should send digital samples of their work to Frida.art@ItiMa.org
